Rangers‘ friendly on Wednesday night against Blackpool at Bloomfield Road has been cancelled after an outbreak of Covid-19 in the Seasiders’ squad – and Gers fans on Twitter are gutted for the thousands who were due to descend on the Lancashire town to see the Light Blues in action.
The Gers had been given an allocation of around 4500 tickets – the biggest crowd to see them since before Covid – and with the lifting of restrictions of England taking effect from today, there were thousands more likely to be there too.
Rangers confirmed the game had been scrapped beause of an ”ongoing COVID-19 related issue within the Blackpool camp” leaving the Light Blues with games against Brighton and Real Madrid to round out their pre-season schedule.
Gerrard’s side have already faced Partick Thistle, Tranmere and Arsenal this summer as they gear up for the defence of their Scottish Premiership title and a crack at reaching the Champions League.

The Light Blues will face Malmo or HJK Helsinki in the Third Qualifying Round next month but before then, Gers fans were looking forward to a trip to Blackpool to see the Scottish champions in action.
