According to the Athletic, the English top tier outfit considered a move for Gerrard after the Liverpool legend guided Rangers to 55.
They believe Wolves were considering an audacious move for the Gers gaffer with ex-Chelsea boss Frank Lampard also considered for the position.
Ex-Anfield midfielder Gerrard has helped rebuild the Ibrox club on and off the pitch and Rangers are now undoubtedly in a position where they can go on to dominate for years to come.
Despite continuing links elsewhere, the Gers gaffer has always reiterated his commitment to Ibrox with many believing the only club he will leave Rangers for is Liverpool.

“I came here with my eyes wide open to learn more about the club,” said Gerrard [Times].
“I had a good idea from the outside, but this grabbed me, it grabbed me. It’s one of the few clubs in the world.
“I’m happy here. I have to make a lot of sacrifices for each family, but I want more. This gave me more taste, and I build on it. I am determined to do that.”
However, Gers fans need not worry after the same publication claimed the Wanderers are set to move elsewhere as they look to improve on a 13th place finish last season.
