New Rangers signing John Lundstram has revealed the role that former Ibrox midfielder John Fleck played in his transfer to the club.

Fleck came through the Academy at Ibrox, making his debut as a teenager and once being touted as the Scottish Wayne Rooney.
The midfielder would leave the club following Rangers’ financial collapse in 2012 but the Gers clearly still hold a place in the player’s heart.
Once Fleck heard that the Ibrox club was interested in former teammate Lundstram he couldn’t resist urging the midfielder to join the Glasgow side’s ranks.
“I had a walk around and it was an eye-opener to how big it was and I can’t wait to get started now,” Lundstram told RangersTV.
“(I was attracted by) the size of the club and the gaffer. Speaking to Steven was a massive draw for me, I was speaking to Flecky and people like that and he said ‘don’t hesitate to get up there’ and that.
“I’m made up to get it over the line and hopefully I can contribute to a bit of success.
“Every Liverpool fan growing up idolised Steven, that’s the way it was in Liverpool. To speak to him and for someone like him to want me was massive.
“I want to learn from him and I’m coming into my prime and hopefully I can play my best football here and I’m sure he can help me.”

Lundstram, 27, has signed a three-year deal at Ibrox and the move is considered a sizeable coup given John’s experience at the top level in England.
Meanwhile, does Lundstram’s choice of squad number drop a major transfer exit hint regarding one of the club’s fringe players?
