According to The Athletic, Leeds are still interested in Rangers forward Ryan Kent, as Steven Gerrard may now have to sell the winger.

What’s the story?

Well, following the 2-1 defeat to Malmö on Tuesday, Rangers will not be partaking in the Champions League this season.

Now, The Athletic believe the financial numbers do not add up at Ibrox, and Gerrard may have to sell at least one of his best players.

That includes Kent, who The Athletic claim Leeds have watched for two years now.

It is also said that those at Elland Road will have taken a keen interest in seeing Rangers crash out of the Champions League.

In our view, Marcelo Bielsa’s side could now make a move for the £7.5m forward, as there might not be a better time to secure his services.

Leeds should go all out for Ryan Kent

Gerrard is doing a great job at Rangers, so in our view, it’s important for Leeds to capitalise on this one moment in which things aren’t going well.

If Rangers win the Scottish Premiership again, and proceed to reach the Champions League with Kent, it will be immeasurably harder to sign him.

As a result, Leeds must push the boat out to sign their long-term target now.

The 24-year-old scored 13 goals and registered 15 assists last season – it’s no surprise Bielsa wants him.

Furthermore, Leeds don’t really have much quality depth on the wings behind Raphinha and Jack Harrison, so there is space for Kent.

In our view, it could be now or never for Leeds to sign the ex-Liverpool man.
