Former Dundee star Tom Hateley thinks the £50k Rangers spent luring Glen Kamara to Ibrox from Dens Park was the best £50k the Gers have ever spent – and insists the Light Blues should reject bids from England and keep the Finnish midfielder in Glasgow.

Brentford and Watford are just two of the clubs linked with a bid for the Rangers star after an impressive season for the Gers, with the Light Blues reported to be looking for more than £10million to let Kamara leave.

Hateley played alongside Kamara at Dundee, having grown up in Scotland while dad Mark was terrorising defences playing for Rangers, and thinks Kamara’s initial move to Ibrox was a “brilliant piece of business” by the Gers.

With Kamara’s performances at Euro 2020 for Finland also creating some buzz around the Rangers star, Hateley admits the Gers have a “big decision” to make over his future.

“It’s definitely the best £50k Rangers have ever spent,” Hatelely told the Sunday Mail.

“And if you tried to sell Glen now, you’d get millions for him, the way the market is.

“For Rangers to snap him up for that amount of money was a brilliant piece of business. And he’s obviously kicked on since then.

“Rangers have a big decision to make on Glen after the Euros.

“But he’s at a great age and he’s someone I’d look to keep hold of.”

Rangers star’s exit would be a massive blow for Gers Champions League hopes

Kamara’s performances for Rangers last season were vital in helping the Light Blues secure their first title in a decade and losing him this summer would be a massive blow.

With two years left on his Ibrox contract, there’s no pressure on Rangers to sell Kamara this summer despite the constant talk over an exit.

Ahead of the Gers returning to the Champions League this season, selling Kamara with no obvious replacement at the club already would be a massive backwards step for Rangers.
