Rangers player has shown 'incredible attitude' in training - Gerrard

Glasgow Rangers boss Steven Gerrard has praised Fashion Sakala for his efforts in pre-season training at Ibrox.

Rangers signed the Zambia international striker on a pre-contract agreement back in May.

A number of issues delayed Sakala’s official unveiling, but eventually Rangers were able to confirm his arrival on 15 July.

The 24-year-old made his Gers debut against Brighton and then scored his first goal in the win over Real Madrid.

And Sakala, who has penned a four-year contract at Ibrox, has impressed Gerrard with his attitude.

“There is still loads to come in terms of fitness, getting him up to speed and the information we are giving him,” The Scotsman quotes him as saying.

“But one thing that I will say for him as he is coming with an incredible attitude.

“”He has been bright, wanting to learn and pick up every bit of information – he is smiling, enjoying it and he is grateful to be here.

“He’s been an absolute pleasure to work with and you can see he is exciting.

“We still need to help him and polish the diamond but hopefully he will go on to become the player that we expect.”

Sakala scored 13 goals for KV Oostende in the Belgian top flight last season, and claimed 16 goals and five assists in all competitions.
