Rangers manager talks helped convince 16-goal star on Gers move

Incoming Rangers striker Fashion Sakala has opened up on how speaking with Ibrox boss Steven Gerrard convinced him his future lay in Glasgow – calling it an “amazing feeling” when he first sat down with the legendary Englishman.

Sakala will join Gerrard’s side later this summer after penning a pre-contract with the Light Blues, insisting it is the “right time” to make a move to the Scottish champions.

After being asked what if hearing from Gerrard was what tipped him towards Ibrox rather than remaining at Oostende, the striker confirmed it was, telling Studio Ken: “Yeah, it was such an amazing feeling.

“After Steven Gerrard talked to me, I believed that this was the right time for me to make a move to Rangers.”

Where will Sakala fit in at Rangers?

Rangers haven’t exactly been short of striking options in recent months with the likes of Alfredo Morelos, Kemar Roofe, Jermain Defoe and Cedric Itten and scoring fairly regulary as the Gers romped to the title.

Unless one of those four move on, there isn’t an obvious way to fit him into the side – although it does add some real depth to the options available.

With 16 goals to his name for Oostende this season, clearly has an eye for goal, and he’ll surely be looking to come and make an impact quickly.

Some Rangers fans think the Gers have found the new Morelos in Sakala, and if he can make the same sort of impression, the Light Blues will have landed a quality player.
