After Rangers fans gathered to celebrate the club’s legendary 55th title victory, the Gers’ followers were lambasted by an overeager Scottish Government.

Rather than attempt to facilitate the celebrations, the ruling SNP party used it as an opportunity to subjugate the club and support, even making misleading claims on social media.

Two politicians in particular – James Dornan and Humza Yousaf – have yet to apologise for irresponsibly feeding the flames of a completely false sectarian video fall-out.

The entire thing was made monumentally worse by the fact the government – despite their transparent grumbles in the media – knocked back an approach to safely facilitate the celebrations by Rangers.

This concerned letting supporters into Ibrox over the course of four days to celebrate with the team inside the club’s own stadium.

But far from be creative with how they dealt with the inevitability of fans celebrating, the entire fall-out since appears to have formed part of an orchestrated and unfair campaign against the club.

Now, Rangers fans have been left fuming at the justification used by unelected national clinical director Jason Leitch when asked about a Fanzone in Glasgow for Euro 2020.

“To be honest, Glasgow will celebrate the Euros, they’re coming” said Leitch [Scotland Tonight].

“You could argue that 3000 people with families, with a sports court, is more controlled than some of the other bits.”

Well, duh. How is this any different from the case of Rangers fans celebrating 55?

The city is only just exiting tier 3 of lockdown measures and as cases rise there is increasing scrutiny on the government for their mixed messaging and wholly different treatment of different groups.

With 12k supporters also set to watch matches at Hampden, there’s little doubt that only a fortnight ago similar could’ve been trialled with the Rangers support.
