Rangers may focus on outgoings today, with striker Cedric Itten now leaving Ibrox for a surprise loan move to Germany with Greuther Furth.

The Gers are expected to let Nikola Katic leave the club before tonight’s transfer deadline, with a loan move to Hajduk Split on the cards.

Rangers has now confirmed one exit, but it isn’t Katic – it’s striker Itten who is now leaving Glasgow with the deadline approaching.

Greuther Furth have struck a deal to take Itten on loan for the season as the Swiss hitman seeks playing time away from Ibrox.

Greuther were promoted last season, and now need quality additions to make sure they stay in the Bundesliga.

Jetro Williams is one of the key additions they have made, but Itten has now joined to try and provide some goals alongside Emil Berggreen, Branimir Hrgota, Dickson Abiama, Havard Nielsen and Jessic Ngankam.

Rangers will hope that Itten plays regularly; they will want him to either come back to Ibrox and thrive next season or have value to sell him in the transfer market.

Itten, 24, only scored six times for Rangers last season, failing to really shine after 19 goals in 35 games in his last season at St Gallen.

The news seems to have come out of absolutely nowhere, as there weren’t even rumours linking Itten with Greuther Furth before the announcement came.

Rangers fans have been taking to Twitter to share their reactions, suggesting that Itten leaving is a ‘strange’ move.

Others just didn’t see this coming at all, and believe that it doesn’t make sense at all unless another striker is coming in to Ibrox tonight.

Some are gutted and questioning just why Rangers would let Itten leave unless there is more work to be done.
