But the champions now appear ready to head to Portugal to kick-off their preparations for their Premiership title defence and return to Champions League action this term.
Rangers have yet to confirm their summer schedule but SønderjyskE director of football Klaus Rasmussen has revealed the Danes will face Gerrard's side and Braga during their warm-weather training camp.
“We’ll meet Glasgow Rangers and Braga in Portugal”, Rasmussen told Danish daily newspaper Der Nordschleswiger.

“We will do a summer training camp in Portugal for the first time and visit Casa Pia.
“This training camp is 100 per cent financed by [club owner Robert] Platek.”
