The hyperbole surrounding Celtic’s recent resurgence really is quite something, they were clearly, never going to be as bad as last season and there was very little chance of us maintaining the same levels that saw us break a series of records – the gap was always going to be closer.

This hasn’t stopped some Rangers fans from beginning to panic with the first Old Firm derby looming large on the horizon, that we have yet to find top form whilst they seem to be hitting theirs is also ruffling a few feathers.

Talk about Rangers not spending any money is nonsense too, John Lundstram and Fashion Sakala may have been free transfers but they will be key players this season, our midfield cost a near pittance and yet I wouldn’t swap it for theirs, yes, they have spent good money on forwards but they already had expensive ones there – scoring goals has never been their problem.

There may be a touch of Dick Advocaat syndrome at play here, after winning five of his first six trophies and winning the league at a canter in his second year, we, inexplicably surrendered a 20 point cushion to lose the title by a similar margin.

Steven Gerrard always speaks about one game at a time, and that’s exactly what we have to do, we are the champions, we are the ones that other teams are going to try and knock off our pedestal – we welcome the chase.
