It’s like that meme with the stick-man figure poking the stick. It feels like ages since we’ve seen a game and because of the shortage of leaks coming out of the recruitment team nowadays, it is incredibly quiet on the transfer front.
We’ve seen a few names recently though, Joey Veerman and Gustavo Hamer are exciting prospects, the most ridiculous being Oli McBurnie for £15million – a rumour that was flatly denied by Rangers, interesting how some of the other names haven’t had this treatment though.
With the European Championship’s not far away, we will hopefully have the majority of our business done early in preparation for the Champions Legue qualifiers, now that we are into June, players who are out of contract should be persuaded sooner, rather than later.
The most high profile are Ryan Gauld – look out for a Vital Rangers exclusive on his future – and John Lundstram, two players of undoubted quality who are now out of contract and available for free, if we are looking to spend big money elsewhere, these are two potential targets who could easily make a difference to the budget, and would “future proof” the squad should we decide to sell the likes of Glen Kamara or Ianis Hagi.
Ross Wilson has a near faultless record since taking over from Mark Allen as director of football and no doubt he is currently the busiest man at Auchenhowie, however, it would be nice if he would just drop even the most subtle of hints from time to time, just to make sure we are still paying attention!
