Orlando City say that Mueller is set to move on come the culmination of the season which is set for November this year.
“Orlando City SC and Chris Mueller have been involved in contract negotiations for some time, with the forward’s contract set to expire following the 2021 Major League Soccer season,” reads an OCSC statement.
“Earlier, Mueller informed the Club that he has signed a pre-contract to join a European team upon the end of his time with Orlando City. The pre-contract was signed in line with all FIFA regulations.”
However, there was no mention of who the club might be here, with an apparently in the know journalist claiming that the player’s destination is likely to be Scotland.
Washington Post journalist Steven Goff believes that Mueller is set to make the trip across the Atlantic come November and is a reputable source when it comes to the American game.
Orlando City's Chris Mueller, whose MLS deal expires this winter, has signed a pre-contract to join a European team after this season, multiple sources say. He and Orlando were in negotiations but did not reach a deal. Expecting him to land in Scotland on a free transfer.

This had some asking the question over whether or not Mueller could be the latest American to join the ranks at Ibrox.
If he goes to Rangers, he’ll be playing under Gerrard, competing for playing time on a league champion that is going to try to qualify for Champions League. That would be a nice move.
