Chris Sutton has branded Rangers complacent after their performance against Malmo in Champions League qualifying.
Steven Gerrard's side lost 2-1 in Sweden ahead of the return leg at Ibrox this coming week.
Celtic hero Sutton accused the Light Blues of complacency after their lacklustre performance but Gers icon Ally McCoist wasn't having any of the claims on BT Sport's Scottish Football Extra.
When asked about Rangers' performance, McCoist said: “I was not happy, I was not happy with it."
Sutton then jumped in saying: “They were complacent weren’t they Ally?"
McCoist replied: “No they weren’t. They weren’t complacent, they just weren’t very good."
Sutton then said: “It was complacency. We all saw it. It was the old Rangers, wasn’t it?”
McCoist then added: “No it wasn’t, it was a poor performance. It was a poor performance. I would struggle to give many pass marks, because I thought we were poor all over the park.
“Rangers did not play at all. Kent had one of those evenings. I did say I had concerns about the centre-forward position. Obviously no Morelos and Roofe was suspended for it.
“I thought that would be key and pivotal.”
McCoist then went on to discuss Alfredo Morelos, who has just returned from an extended international break with Colombia.
He said:
“Morelos, regardless of where he is playing, Rangers started the season to qualify for the Champions League and that’s the most important thing of the lot. He’s got to be back and doing the same as Kamara. Kamara was at the Euros.
“We know Morelos, our Alfredo, and we love him, has a bit of previous in this department.
“I would imagine the Rangers staff would have wanted him back.
"I was concerned about the lack of goals in the centre forward position.”
