Boyhood Rangers fan Greg Stewart has paid an emtional farewell to the Light Blues after leaving the club at the end of his contract, calling his time at Ibrox two years he will “cherish for a lifetime.”
Stewart’s departure was confirmed by the Gers earlier in the week with the former Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and Dundee star leaving Ibrox a champion.
Taking to social media to make his first comment since leaving the Gers, Stewart thanked the coaching staff, players, behind-the-scenes staff and the fans who supported him throughout his time at Ibrox.
“Two years I will cherish for a lifetime!” Stewart posted on Instagram.
“Ups and downs on that way…we had one ultimate goal we had to complete!
The best Celtic player from every Euro 2020 nation
“From my family and friends who supported me every step of the way! The manager, coaching staff, my teammates, staff behind the scenes and the fans who follow near and far….thank you everyone @rangersfc
for the last two seasons.”
Stewart made 33 appearances over his two years at Rangers, scoring three times and chipping in with seven assists.
The 31-year-old likely won’t be short of offers over the summer though as he looks for a new club.
Despite not being a regular at Ibrox during his time as a Rangers player, Stewart earned plenty of plaudits from fans for his performances when called upon.
While he won’t be back as a Rangers player next season, it wouldn’t be a surprise to see Stewart back at Ibrox as a fan sooner rather than later.
